Engineering | Mining Technology | Multidisciplinary Delivery
About Tribe Tech
Tribe Tech designs and develops innovative drilling and mining technology for the global resources sector. Our work spans engineering design, machine development, automation, and field-ready drilling systems.
As our Australian operations continue to grow, we are expanding our engineering capability to support the ongoing development, build, and commissioning of our drilling rigs.
This role sits across our hydraulic, mechanical, controls and electrical teams, coordinating delivery of work packages and keeping the build and commissioning programme moving.
About the Role
We are seeking a Project Engineer to coordinate and execute work packages across our autonomous drilling rig programme.
Unlike a single-discipline engineering role, this position cuts across hydraulic, mechanical, controls and electrical work streams — connecting design, build and commissioning activity so that work packages move forward on schedule.
Engineers who enjoy coordinating people and priorities as much as solving technical problems, and who can speak the language of multiple engineering disciplines, will be well suited to this position.
You will work closely with discipline leads and technicians to plan, sequence and track delivery of work packages, resolve cross-discipline blockers, and keep commissioning milestones on track.
Key Responsibilities
Work Package Coordination
- Plan, sequence and track delivery of work packages across hydraulic, mechanical, controls and electrical disciplines
- Define scope, timelines and dependencies for each work package in collaboration with discipline leads
- Maintain visibility of progress against the commissioning and build schedule
Cross-Discipline Delivery
- Act as the connective point between hydraulic, mechanical, controls and electrical teams during build and commissioning
- Identify and resolve interface issues between disciplines before they become blockers
- Escalate technical or resourcing conflicts early, with a recommended path forward
Schedule & Progress Tracking
- Track work package status against plan and flag slippage early
- Maintain and update punch lists, commissioning trackers and work package registers
- Report progress, blockers and risks to engineering and operations leadership
Technical Coordination & Problem-Solving
- Support root-cause investigation where issues span more than one discipline
- Translate field and workshop feedback into coordinated action across teams
- Support commissioning test planning and execution alongside discipline engineers
Documentation & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain clear records of work package scope, decisions and outcomes
- Capture lessons learned across disciplines and feed them into future work package planning
- Contribute to continuous improvement of delivery processes across the engineering team
Systems You May Coordinate Across
Work packages may span:
- Hydraulic systems — rod handling, sampling, hammer change, cylinders & valve banks
- Mechanical systems — structural assemblies, powerunits, rotary head
- Controls systems — PLC sequencing, interlocks, commissioning fault-finding
- Electrical systems — rig wiring, Remote Command Hub, sensor & diagnostics integration
About You
Essential
- Degree in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, mechatronics or similar) or equivalent experience
- 6+ years experience in a project engineering, delivery, or multidisciplinary coordination role
- Experience working across engineering disciplines on complex machinery or equipment programmes
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple work packages concurrently
- Confident communicator, comfortable coordinating priorities across technical teams
Desirable
- Experience in mobile equipment, mining equipment, or heavy machinery
- Exposure to hydraulic, controls or electrical systems on drilling or mining equipment
- Experience supporting commissioning of prototype or first-of-kind machinery
- Familiarity with project scheduling and tracking tools
- Experience working with international engineering or manufacturing teams
What We Offer
- Full-time role within a growing engineering team
- Broad exposure across hydraulic, mechanical, controls and electrical disciplines
- Hands-on involvement in machine build and commissioning
- Direct collaboration with experienced engineers and technicians
- Opportunity to grow as the business expands into manufacturing in India
